After the battle with Shooty, Satoshi decides to teach Mijumaru how to open his eyes underwater. They go to a lake, but when Satoshi forces Mijumaru's eyes open while they are swimming, Mijumaru gets upset and forces Satoshi out of the lake. At their campsite, Iris is watching over the other Pokémon while they are playing a game. As Emonga and Tsutarja get in a fight, Zuruggu wanders off and finds a group of Tamagetake that he angers. The Tamagetake release a Poisonpowder that hits all of the Pokémon. Dent, Satoshi, and Mijumaru go out to find an herb that will cure the poison, but it only grows at the bottom of a lake. Satoshi takes Mijumaru with him into the lake, where they are spotted by a wild Gamagaru. The Gamagaru instructs a school of Otamaro to attack them, and Mijumaru cannot fight back because he cannot see them. He holds his own until he gains enough courage and opens up his eyes, scaring the Otamaro off. However, Gamagaru calls upon a Maggyo friend that uses an Electric move to force Satoshi and Mijumaru out of the lake. Dent decides to use his fishing skills to get the Maggyo out of the water, drawing Gamagaru out as well. Mijumaru battles against Gamagaru while Dent uses his fishing rod to get Maggyo under control. Mijumaru finally is able to defeat Gamagaru when he opens his eyes during his Aqua Jet move, allowing Satoshi to capture Gamagaru while Dent captures Maggyo. Mijumaru dives into the lake once more and finds the herb, which they bring back to camp to heal the others. Mijumaru manages to earn the full respect and gratitude of all the Pokemon.
